My Skincare Routine

Hi everyone I am back with another post this week about my skincare routine and a review on the products that I use. As you might have already established, I do have very dry skin. I will do a blog post very soon on how to manage oily skin as many of you have asked me what to do with super oily skin. I have been using this skincare routine for over a year now and it works perfect for my skin, I cannot go a day without following this routine. This blog post will give you an insight on the products I use to keep my skin hydrated during the day and at night.

Morning Skin Routine

1)Soap&Glory Face Soap and Clarity Foaming Facial Wash
This stuff is amazing! It is clearly not a soap, and on the packaging it says that it is a non-drying foaming facial wash. I totally agree with this, I have used face cleansers that dry out the skin completely after using the cleanser. I feel that this also gives a 'glowy' complexion after using. I only use this during the day, because at night I use a more hydrating cleanser which I will talk about later on. This cleanser has small smooth pinkish beads which means the facial cleanser also acts as a scrub. However, because it is an everyday cleanser, I don't feel like it exfoliates because the beads are very small and gentle on the skin. I will also do a blog post on what I use to exfoliate my skin. This cleanser costs £7 from Boots, however, you can purchase this on their website at www.soapandglory.com. I would defiantly recommend this product for those of you with dry skin because it works perfectly without drying the skin out even more, and it is very hydrating.

2) Lush Celestial Facial Moisturiser

Moisturising your skin during the day is very important for dry skin, it keeps the skin hydrated. It is also very important to moisturise your skin before applying makeup. The moisturiser acts as a barrier between your skin and the makeup and prevents the skin from getting damaged. I love this moisturiser, its not greasy at all and works perfect under makeup. It costs £11.75, a little pricey, but it is worth it, it lasts a long time, I usually repurchase this after 3 months. When I purchased this I thought it would make my skin super greasy because of the ingredients but I was wrong. I love Lush products because they do not have any harsh ingredients, do not use any perfumes and are mainly handmade. Part of Celestial's ingredients include almond oil, almond milk, cocoa butter and fresh dove orchid extract. We all know how moisturising these ingredients are, but again, I stress, this moisturiser does not make your skin greasy. It also reduces any redness on the skin and is made for sensitive skin. I don't have sensitive skin, but I just wanted to give it a try. It defiantly leaves the skin super soft and fresh. You can purchase this from www.lush.com or find a local Lush store around your area.

Night time Skin Routine
Moisturising before going to bed is important, but do not use heavy moisturisers because they tend to block your pores which leads to pimples. I tend to use a cleanser which is moisturising but not too heavy, it acts like a cleanser and a moisturiser.

3) Lush Ultrabland facial cleanser

I LOVE ULTRABLAND! If you have dry skin, and haven't tried this cleanser, you need to try it! I usually use this before I go to bed and it is for people with acne, dry and any type of skin problems. Before I discovered this product, I used to get really bad break outs on my cheeks, I wouldn't say it was acne, but it was pretty bad. I searched online on what I can use and came across this cleanser, and it has a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. So I read reviews that it really helped with problem skin and thought I would give it a try. I have been using this for a year and a half now and it is still the most amazing thing I have ever tried. It comes in 2 different sizes, the smaller size which is 45g costs £6.75 and the larger tub is 100g which costs £10.75. I usually go for the 100g because it lasts a lot longer than the smaller one. Once again, I really do love Lush products because they are made out of natural ingredients. This cleanser contains Almond oil. Beeswax and Rose Water. Rose water is extremely calming for the skin and beeswax is moisturising and soothing for the skin. It does not smell amazing, because no perfumes are used, but the scent does not matter to me. I usually take a very small amount because it is super creamy and oily and massage all over my face. This cleanser picks up any little amount of dirt, is amazing for waterproof makeup. Usually I use the Eau Roma Water (my next point) with this cleanser to remove the cleanser, but you can use plain water on a cloth or piece of cotton wool.
I would recommend this cleanser to anyone with problem/dry skin.

4) Lush Eau Roma Water, Toner water

I usually use this with my Ultrabland cleanser because this is hydrating too. It consists of lavender water and rose water, which is very good for the skin. This is available in 2 different size as well, the 100g costs £3.95 and the 250g costs £7.25. I purchased the smaller one the first time and fell in love with it. The bigger bottle lasts for round about 5 months because all you need it four tiny spirtz all over your face. This also picks up any dust or dirt on the face and the evidence is available on the cotton pad. It is super soothing and does not dry out the skin at all. I have used toners before that leave the skin pretty dry after use, but because this is made out of natural ingredients, I can say, this stuff is pretty awesome!

5) Vaseline

My everyday, go to lip moisturiser is Vaseline. I just put this on my lips at night because when I wake up in the morning my lips are super soft. A quick tip, when doing your makeup, if you have dry lips dab a tiny bit of Vaseline on your lips, let it soak into your lips while your doing your makeup. Before applying lipstick or gloss, make sure you wipe it off, this way you will have perfect lips and your lipstick will not get stuck in the dry cracked lips.

Top 3 Foundations

I have had a very hard time looking for the right foundations because I have very dry skin, not many blemishes and just tiny imperfections. I am sure most of you must have heard about these foundations as they are used in a lot of the YouTube makeup videos, but I wanted to share my opinion about these foundations. My top 3 foundations are:

1) Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum
I heard about this foundation from Pixiwoo, they absolutely love this foundation! So I thought I would give it a try and see for myself. I love trying new products because that way, I can see whats better for me. This is available at Superdrug for £10.99. It is a Gel foundation, says it lasts for 16 hours  and my color is 55. This foundation smells absolutely amazing, has a very fruity smell. I would say the coverage is light and dewy. I would not recommend this foundation for oily skin because it is very dewy. I have not worn it for 16 hours, but it does last a very long time, I do powder slightly around my nose and chin area, because it can look a little shiny. However this is a good foundation for people with good skin because it does not cover blemishes as much. I wear this foundation on a regular basis, when I am going to work, shopping or even to University. The only drawback is, it does not have an SPF in it, so you would have to wear your regular sun protecting cream before you apply this foundation.

Overall, I would give this foundation a rating on 7.5,  would defiantly recommend it for dry skin, but not oily skin

2) DIORSKIN FOREVER foundation

This was my first high-end foundation that I bought from House of Fraser, I am in love with this foundation. It is a bit more on the pricey side, it costs £32, however it is definitely worth the price. My color in this foundation is number 031, it has an SPF of 25, which is incredible. I usually wear this foundation on special occasions, again it is suitable for dry skin. But I wouldn't say it's super dewy, I think people with normal skin can get away with wearing this foundation, obviously powdering the whole face would be important. It feels like silk when it goes on the skin, it is not too heavy, but it is a build-able foundation. I usually like to go for more of a natural look, I do not like my foundation to be heavy, so I like to really blend this foundation using my real techniques stippling brush. The stippling brush helps blend, but you still get some coverage with it.

Overall, I would give this foundation a rating on 8 out of 10. Please note this is my opinion on the foundation, I like to give things a try and see what suits my skin, and I believe everyone has different skin and they should give something a try before they purchase it.

3) CHANEL VITALUMIERE AQUA foundation

I went through missions trying to get a match-up for this foundation. Every Chanel counter I would go to, for some reason, the salesperson was not in. So I finally got this foundation and I can say, this is the best lightest foundation I have ever tried! It costs £32, so the same as the Dior foundation, my color in this foundation is number 50 Beige and this foundation has an SPF of 15. Because it is a water-based foundation you do have to shake it quite a bit (I would recommend shaking all your foundations before application). The coverage of this foundation is quite dewy, and it is very light, it does not cover blemishes properly, so you would have to use a good concealer. This foundation is perfect for people who have amazing flushed skin who like their skin to show through foundations. It does not sit heavy at all on the face, perfect for dry skin. Once again, I do like to powder the center of my face a tiny bit because I prefer my cheeks to be dewy rather than my whole face. This foundation is not as build-able as the Dior one, but I still like it when I feel my skin does not need much coverage, I like to apply this foundation with a foundation brush, because using a buffing brush will just make the foundation even thinner and you do not want that.

I would give this foundation a rating of 9.5 out of 10, because I just love it so much!

Please do let me know how you feel about these foundations, so that I can get an insight of what everyone thinks, also let me know what your favorite foundations are!
